Senator Claire McCaskill continues to ignore America's need for new jobs, instead focusing on reducing the deficit through spending cuts.
If you haven't already, sign our petition to tell Sen. McCaskill to stand up for jobs.
Just days after she dismissed the idea of a jobs bill in Congress, Senator McCaskill doubled down, saying, "The American people have now figured out that deficits matter."
But 67 percent of Americans say they would rather see Congress focus on job creation than the deficit, according to a recent poll.
After years of running up the deficit, Congress is looking to reduce the deficit the exact wrong way - through shared pain, rather than shared gain. Creating jobs will not only put our economy on the path to recovery but will also reduce the deficit over time.
If Democrats like Senator McCaskill cave to the Tea Party and fail to stand up for jobs, there will be no new jobs. And, as the New York Times recently wrote, "Without more jobs, both the economy and the budget will deteriorate further."
